Three things decide#
Google says the local results are mainly based on relevance (how well the company matches the search), distance (how far from the person searching) and prominence (how well known the company is, for example links and reviews). It is not possible to pay for a better local position [1].
What you control yourselves in Google Business Profile#
This is what we do#
- The same name, address and phone number on the site as in the business profile, and the same details as structured data [2].
- We check whether you show on the map when we read Google's results page for your industry and town. We only show it when we have actually seen the page, with the date.
- We use open map data (Overture) to find competitors nearby. It is labelled as open map data and never as Google's data [3].
